The Investment Associate will support the management of the due diligence efforts on all prospective and current investments for the family office. The Investment Associate is expected to lead the deal processes from beginning to end, servicing as the coordinator for the deal process. The Investment Associate will be in a highly visible position and expected to manage external diligence streams as well as internally communicate views and thoughts on various investment strategies for the family office.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead due diligence process for prospective and current investments – inclusive of creating and updating financial models, global macro and thematic research, as well as comparable analyses.
- Produce monthly portfolio statements, detailing the firm’s investments in hedge funds, public equities, debt funds, private equity, venture capital and real estate.
- Prepare quarterly portfolio performance reports, including a descriptive assessment of the firm’s investments relative to industry benchmarks.
- Analyze the contribution of each investment manager in the context of the firm’s portfolio and explain how various investment styles impact the characteristics of the overall portfolio.
- Evaluate investment managers to make allocation or redemption decisions with a goal towards improving the overall risk/return of the portfolio.
- Regularly read research, news and other sources of current events to remain current on information affecting the firm’s investments.
- Interact daily with the firm’s principals, colleagues, management teams and fund managers.
- Some travel to visit fund managers; portfolio companies and prospects may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
- Three to five years of experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, or hedge funds.
- BA/BS degree in finance, business, economics or related discipline.
- Prefer an MBA in business or finance.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- High proficiency with Excel, Word and PowerPoint as well as SEC filings, Pitchbook, Bloomberg, among other investments-related databases.
- Ability to work independently to quickly create detailed, high-quality investment summaries, including developing detailed financial models.
- Proven analytical skills, business judgment and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated working style, eagerness to learn and strong interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to pitch in wherever needed.
