The
National Director of Multi-Family Construction is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of multi-family construction projects across the nation. This role includes strategic planning, execution, and delivery of construction projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and according to quality standards. The director will lead and coordinate regional construction teams, collaborate with cross-functional departments, and maintain strong relationships with contractors, architects, and suppliers to ensure the success of multi-family residential developments.
Your Responsibilities On The Team
- Work and collaborate with all homebuilding divisions, Quarterra Senior Directors of Construction, Quarterra Preconstruction, and the Emblem Team.
- Create and execute national strategies for multi-family construction projects in line with corporate goals.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to division construction teams, guaranteeing uniformity and high standards in project execution. Establish and implement best practices for trade flow and sequencing, pre-construction procedures, as well as the request for information and change order processes.
- Collaborate with division leaders to establish project objectives, budgets, and schedules. This includes standardized GMP contracts, master schedule templates, and the General Conditions budgeting process.
- Review and support the planning, coordination, and execution of all phases of multi-family construction projects from pre-construction to completion.
- Ensure adherence to construction plans, specifications, codes, and safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including building codes and environmental laws.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key contractors, suppliers, architects, and engineers.
- Oversee bidding and procurement processes to secure services and materials at competitive rates.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure timely and successful project completion.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for national construction initiatives, reporting regularly to leadership.
- Collaborate with internal teams such as development, finance, and marketing to ensure alignment on project goals.
- Communicate with external stakeholders, including investors, regulatory bodies, and community groups, as necessary.
- Implement national standards with regard to BuildPro scheduling and Procore documentation.
Your Toolbox
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years experience in project/construction management in residential construction required.
- Minimum 8 years experience in directing and supervising construction staff.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale, multi-location construction projects.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to lead diverse and geographically dispersed teams.
- Deep understanding of construction practices, project management, and regulatory requirements.
- Valid Driver’s License with good driving record.
- Valid Auto Insurance Coverage.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office products (Word and Excel) as well as BuildPro and Procore.
- Excellent follow-up, communication (written and verbal) and time management skills.
- Some projects or locations might require specialized job knowledge or experience.
Physical & Office/Site Presence Requirements:
This is a position which requires the incumbent to frequently walk, stand and climb stairs in/around apartment homes, models, and properties. Must also have the ability to operate computer equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, and move and carry up to 25 lbs. Finger dexterity is necessary.
