DHI Communities is currently looking for a
Staff Accountant-PM. The right candidate will apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. Assist operations team members with preparing leasing and asset management reporting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Review operating financials for budget variances, cost code errors, and other posting errors on invoices, etc.
- Prepare monthly journal entries to record operating activity for assigned properties
- Prepare account reconciliations and adjust when necessary
- Review costs to determine expense vs. capital classification
- Track capital expenditures & start-up costs
- Prepare monthly balance sheet and reconciliations
- Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
- Analyze and review accounting and financial resources for property acquisitions and dispositions
- Conduct monthly close procedures and ensure that deadlines are met
- Track and record corporate intercompany costs
- Assist with property management team members as needed
- Consolidate monthly financial activity to corporate system of record
- Other ad hoc analyses, reports, and projects as needed by division management
- Ability to work overtime
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting from a four-year college or university
- Zero to three years of related experience and/or training
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
- Proficiency with MS Office and email
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong communication skills
- Experience in Yardi, RealPage, or similar software preferred
